After the success of the SugarView app, Roche presented the opportunity to redesign an existing product called GluciCheck, an app focused on carb counting and diabetes tracking while collecting patient data for healthcare providers. With a consistent Experience Design and look & feel, Gluci-Chek & SugarView form a cohesive family of apps under the same umbrella, ensuring a seamless transition between the two for all your diabetes management needs.

Challenge
The challenge lay in the outdated design of the existing GluciCheck app, which no longer aligned with the look and feel of the successful SugarView app. Additionally, the app experienced a decline in user numbers over the last year, signaling the need for a new strategy to revitalize and redesign the app.
Solution
The solution involved conducting open interviews with medical staff, patients, and team members to gather insights on the app's pain points and positive aspects, which informed the creation of personas. Additionally, a comprehensive review of style guides and user flows was undertaken to identify pain points for improvement, ensuring a user-centered design approach that effectively addressed the specific needs and concerns of the app's users.
Goal
The goal was to create a unique and simplified user experience through the development of illustrations and motion design, following an extensive process of updating user flow and wireframes and conducting numerous rounds of usability testing to achieve a success rate of 90%.
Using Motion Design on the Onboarding
Animation attracts attention and conveys information, enhancing the app's appeal and creating a unique, engaging experience for improved health management.
Impact
The redesign resulted in a significant increase in downloads, with an uptick of up to 34% compared with the previous year. Additionally, it facilitated increased data exchange between the app and the internal medical platform, leading to improved data interpretation and understanding for doctors and medical staff.
